...London 2000, Rockpalast Festival 1998, Viva Tv 2000, Huddersfield 2001 and Cologne 2003 reviews coming soon!... VIVA TV, 06/22/98
The viva interactive show is a daily music show on German TV. Usually they show clips and they interview a band in the TV studio! The day after the Rockpalast festival they invited Matchbox Twenty and, of course, we (Sam, Anna and me) were there!
At first we didn't even have tickets, but then one of the security guards from the TV station told us that 3 girls didn't come, so there were exactly 3 tickets left!!! That's how we got into the show!! Yay!!
When the guys first entered the TV studio, they saw us. They were pretty surprised we were there cos we just met them day before! Adam said: 'Hi sweetie!' to me, which was sooo cute!! Brian liked Anna's t-shirt which said: same shit different day!! :) But he said the t-shirt she wore the day before was better (it was a green hemp shirt. You can see it on the Loreley pix!!! *lol*)
Well, the interview was cool, they talked about us aswell. They were like: 'Yeah, we gave them money and wanted them to say that they like us. They were thirsty yesterday so we gave them something to drink and invited them to our tourbus..blablabla' (WHICH IS NOT TRUE!! *lol*) They said: 'This is our third time in Cologne actually, and we've already got some friends here!' (pointing at us!!) When Sam did a comment on the song Push, Rob whispered: 'We know her! We know her!'
Yeah, I think that's the main things that happened at the show. During the breaks they talked to us more than to the show master who was supposed to prepare the next part of the interview with them!!
At the end of the show they performed Push, but can you imagine Paul playing the guitar, Adam playing the drums, Kyle on bass guitar and Brian on rhythm guitar?! They swapped instruments, which was a really funny thing, believe me!!!!!!!!! Only Rob stayed in his old role, which was a good decision actually because his mic was on and so all he sang was live!! :) Can u imagine Pookie singing Push?? I can?t!!!
After the show we met Kyle in the garage again, but he had to leave so we didn't really get the chance to talk to him there!!

MATCHBOX t w e n t y
Hamburg 6/2000)
I won the tickets for the concert in hamburg at a tv show on MTV germany! Actually its a pretty weird story how I won the tickets...i only heard the showmaster of select talking about rob and the gig of mbt in hamburg, while i was cleaning my bathroom. I also heard that they had a sort of competition where you could win tix by answering a questionI didnt really hear the question, but I understood that she was like: whats the name of the band that rob Thomas did a song together this summer. But I wasnt sure if that was the right Question and all well, to be honest I forgot about the competiotion and in the evening, when I was online I just decided to take a look at the mtv homepageI found an email address of mtv there and wrote them what I thought was the answer to their QuestionI wrote Rob Thomas did a song with Carlos Santana, and is called smooth. I added my telephone number, age and my name of course and send them the mailthen I forgot a bout that whole thing again cos even in my wildest dremas I didnt think I could win the tickets. I didnt even know when the gig was supposed to be Well, two or three day later I got a message on my mobile from a friend and she was like: hey, congrats, that was you who won on mtv right?!? First I didnt know what she was talking about but then I remembered my emailwell, when I got home I called the tv station and I couldnt believe when they said it was really me who won the 2 VIP tickets for the hamburg show! Plus hotel, train ticket and all. The craziest about it was that I didnt really had the time to go there cos we had planned a trip to the EXPO with school exactly on the day of the concertand on the weekend before the show in hamburg I was at a festival and I knew I would be pretty tired and exhausted afterwards But (of course!!) I decided to go to hamburg anyways. So me and anna went to hamburg on Monday morning and when we arrived at the station a driver picked us up and brought us to the hotel. We had a lot of fun in HH and we were sooo excited cos the last time we saw the matchsticks was in summer 1998!!! In the evening the driver brought us to the club called Grosse Freiheit . We had a good view on the stage cos we were in the VIP area which was a sort of little balcony next to where kyle always stands on stage! Of course the gig was GREAT, I especially liked the cover version of willy nelsons mamas dont let your babies grow up to be cowboys and my fave song kody. Unfortunately time went by too fast and about 1 hours later the show was over. The driver brought us to a little caf then where the after show party was. It was a really romantic place at the alster, right at the water! We were the only fans there, the other people all belonged to the label or press. Around 11:30pm the guys arrived, and we started talking to adam first. He was pretty jet lagged and I think he only wished to go back to the hotel and have a looooong sleep. But the guys stayed :) kyle and rob had their wives with them. They all sat down at a table next to us and we were just kinda watching them from there they all drank their beers and seemed to be tired. But it was funny though! Rob took the meat for his sandwich with his fingers, baah!! Around 1:30, adam, kyle and brian left, and now we sat together with rob, marisol and paul at their table and we started talking with themfirst the guys introduced themselves to us and rob was like thats my wife, Marisol and introduced me to her. That was soo sweet!! We gave paul copies of all our pix we took in 1998 and he had so much fun looking through them! I started chatting with rob about the rock am ring festival, and he was so sorry that they couldnt play because all their equipment was in paris instead of Frankfurthe only played with Santana(and I think this was one of the very best performances I saw during the whole festival!!! it was great)!! Then he asked me if I had seen Sting at that festival and how I liked stings show. He was sooo jealous cos he didnt see him cos they had to leave before he came on stagebut it was so sweet when he said to me in real excitement: hey, sting put his hand on my shoulder and was like: you did a good show (he meant the performance with Santana!) rob was so happy that he had met sting and he couldnt believe that he liked smooth! Well, after he talked about his idol sting I said to him: can you imagine that its just the same for me when I meet you as it is for you to meet sting?! When he heard that he gave me a hug and said: aww, no, thank you sweetie! That was sooooooo cool! I thought I was dying! Me and anna gave him a little present, it was one of those asia t-shirts he always wore in summer 1998 and in the smooth video and he soo much liked that one and was like: aww, thats soo sweet, this one really fits to the others I have, thanks so muchand gave me a hug again. Later we told them that we had tickets for the London show (which was two days later) and that we might see each other again then. They couldnt believe we only flew to England to see their show :) when I told them that the apollo only had seats paul said: we gotta make them stand up!!!! *with a big smile on his face* and we also started to talk to Jason then. Paul was still looking through the pix and when he saw that picture of anna with her pink hair he stopped, looked at her and closer at the picture again and said: I KNOW YOU; I KNOW YOU!!!! He remembered her hair, which he always loved cos she changes color so often :) well, rob heard him screming and was like: I know HER! (and pointed at me!) and said: are you from the label or something?!? I told him I was a fan only and we were all laughingbut isnt that cool, they remembered us!!!! Well, it was around 2am when anna and me decided to leave. We were so tired, hadnt slept much the last few nights because we were at that festival before the driver brought us and the boys to the hotels jason took a picture of us with paul and rob. I LOVE THAT ONE . (first I asked Marisol to take that picture but she cant see when its so dark :) Well, this was my little review of the great time me and anna had in hamburg! Hop eu enjoyed it!!!!I will never forget that evening, big hugs to the matchsticks and their wives and JASON!!! Ohh, btwwhen we were driven through hamburg to our hotel the radio was playing smooth, crazy, eh?!.......

...Cologne 1998...
This was my first MB20 concert and it was the boys' second time in Germany. My friends and I arrived at the venue at around 3pm and it was freezing!! At that time (1998) the band wasn't very popular over here in Germany, so we were the only fans who waited there, for such a long time, in front of the venue, just to stand front row during the show!!
We listened to Sam's tape, when suddenly a black nightliner (what's a nightliner?) arrived at the live music hall. It was the guy's bus and, of course, we were really excited because we had never met them before! We could see the TV through the black windows and the guy's heads too! *lol* I think the guys saw us as well because Paul and Rob came out to say 'HI!' That was so sweet! They smoked a cigarette with us and signed our stuff. When I asked Rob for an autograph for my friend, and told him that she couldn't come because she had to go to a Go-Kart race, he said that they loved Go-Karting too :) Paul was so funny!! They posed for some pix and they gave us some British coins they had from their England tour! (I still have Rob's pound coin in a frame!!)
After taking some pix with us, the guys had to leave for the soundcheck and we had to wait again till they finally opened the doors around 7. At first there weren't many people and, of course, we stood in the front row!! We were still able to walk around a bit inside the hall and suddenly I saw Paul again! He and Adam stood in front of the stage and we went to say 'Hi' to Adam too! Paul drew me something, I still don't know what it is. (It's in my picture gallery if you want to see it! Maybe you know what he wanted to tell me with it!!)
Adam was pretty funny too. We took a picture together and he also signed my stuff. I asked Paul why the security guys told us not to take pictures during the show. He didn't know (for all those who wonder why they always tell you that you aren't allowed to take pix: NO ONE KNOWS WHY, even the guys don't!) Paul said he didn't care if the fans took pix Whatever! I took some pix during the show, but then the security told me to stop, that's why I only have 4 pix from the show.
The show started around 8 and the guys were great!!!! I loved the songs live and Rob put soo much passion into them, but ATTENTION: bring umbrellas for the upcoming shows ::lol:: (seemed to me as if ROB was spitting while singing, roflmao!!!) Well, actually that's all I have to say about the Cologne show. Maybe I forgot something, but I think those were the main facts!! :)
...Rock am Ring 2000...
Matchbox Twenty were supposed to play at that festival, so me and my friends went there very early in the morning to stand in first row! Time went by really slowly and I thought we were waiting there for days or weeks. Suddenly someone in the crowd said something about Matchbox and that their name didn't appear on the playlist, which they showed on the big screens, anymore. I was SHOCKED and went to that medical center to ask a friend who works there if it was true cos they changed the playlist of the bands and I couldn't find Matchbox Twenty anywhere! He called someone from the label or management and asked them what was going on. First they said they'd only play on the alternate stage, instead of the centre stage. Of course we all felt very relieved, and even liked the idea that the were supposed to play on the smaller stage later in the evening. However, about an hour or so later, we heard the SAD info... Matchbox Twenty wouldn't play at all!!! No-one could tell us why and I felt so down. My friends went to see some other bands and I ran around there on my own all day long. I only wanted to see Sting and Santana later in the evening. Of course I didn't think the guys would be there, BUT... when Santana started playing, I started making my way through the crowd. To be honest, I have NO idea WHY I wanted to get closer to the stage. I wasn't interested in seeing Carlos Santana close up, only wanted to take a rest and listen to their songs. I was getting nearer and nearer to the stage and, believe it or not, when I came to a point where I couldn't go any further b/c there were definitely too many people, they played Maria Maria then Santana was saying something I didn't really understand, because the crowd was so loud... Then suddenly I heard him mentioning the name ROB THOMAS and I thought I was DYING when I saw ROB coming on stage! A few seconds later they started playing SMOOTH and I just HAD to cry. The people around me noticed my crying and some guy took me on his shoulders so I could see the stage! I tell ya, it was sooo overwhelming. I cried the whole time while HE sang. I tried to sing along, as far as it was possible. I will NEVER forget that day, those minutes, when Rob came on stage... It was so overwhelming because there were so many people and I sat on this guy's shoulders and I could see everything. The fact that I thought the guys wouldn't be there at all made this performance even better!
AWESOME!!!!!!!
